Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 August 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how BananaBomb ("the app", "we", "us") handles your information. BananaBomb is developed by JZA Applications.
In short: BananaBomb does all of its work on your iPhone. Your photos are never uploaded anywhere, we do not run servers that collect your data, we do not use analytics or advertising, we do not require an account, and we do not share your information with third parties.
Your photo library
BananaBomb requests access to your photo library because reviewing and cleaning it is the app's entire purpose. With that access, the app:
- Reads your photos and videos to display them for review.
- Analyses them on your device using Apple's Vision framework — creating visual fingerprints to find duplicate "bunches", and classifying photos into categories such as screenshots, selfies, food, documents, people, animals and landscapes, along with a quality estimate.
- Deletes only what you confirm. Photos you bomb are queued in a batch, and nothing is removed until you approve the standard iOS deletion dialog. Deleted photos then remain in your Recently Deleted album, managed by iOS, for around 30 days.
Your photos and videos never leave your device. No image, fingerprint, thumbnail or analysis result is ever transmitted to us or to any third party.
What the app stores on your device
- Analysis cache. Photo fingerprints, categories and quality scores are cached locally so your library doesn't need re-scanning every launch. You can clear this at any time with Force Rescan Library in Settings.
- Review history and preferences. Which photos you've reviewed, your settings, and the on-device preference model that learns from your swipes. You can erase these with Reset Review History in Settings.
- Lifetime statistics. Your total swipe count and storage saved are kept in the device keychain so they survive a reinstall.
All of this stays on your iPhone. If you back up your device, this data may be included in that backup, which is governed by Apple's terms and Apple's Privacy Policy.
Barry and Apple Intelligence
Barry the Banana's AI-generated commentary and poses use Apple's on-device foundation models (Apple Intelligence) on supported devices. These prompts and responses are generated entirely on your iPhone — nothing about your photos or swipes is sent to us or to any cloud AI service. On devices without Apple Intelligence, this feature is simply unavailable.
Sharing
If you choose to share a photo from BananaBomb, the share sheet hands the original file to the app or service you pick — AirDrop, Messages, email or anything else. That transfer is handled by the app you chose and is subject to its own privacy terms.
Purchases
BananaBomb Pro is available as a yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime unlock. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple's App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive or store your name, payment card, or other payment details. Your entitlement is read directly from the App Store and tied to your Apple Account, which is how it restores across your devices and reinstalls.
Purchases are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
Data we collect
We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data. Specifically, BananaBomb:
- Does not upload, copy or transmit your photos or videos anywhere.
- Does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- Does not maintain developer-operated servers that receive your data.
- Does not create user accounts with us or require you to provide an email or password.
- Does not track you across apps or websites.
Children's privacy
BananaBomb is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your control over your data
You can clear the analysis cache and reset your review history at any time in Settings. Deleting the app removes all BananaBomb data on the device apart from the keychain statistics noted above. Photo library access can be changed or revoked at any time in your device's Settings, though the app cannot work without it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
